Up-styling a vintage china cabinette

I paid a little more than I normally would for this vintage china cabinet, knowing that I was going to up-style it, but I just fell in love with it.
In preparing this piece for painting, I removed laminated wood from the side and top which was just too warped to repair. I also glued a bit here and there. I make my own paint for most projects I do. For this project I started with a coat of white and added a coat of a light grey over that. For the inside I have chosen a rose pink. By the way, the colors I made for this project were done from a base using Valspar paints.
When this piece is finished I will have it on my site www.facebook.com/SweettiqueInIowa. Hopefully, soon it will be for sale in my shop Sweet-tique at 509 First Street in Bonaparte, Iowa. If you are in the area stop by and see what I am working on!

*If you notice, I am not mentioning exact color names. Since I make my own paint I will not plug any other company. However, if I do use a particular product I will be glad to let you know what so that you may try the product out for yourself.*

Beginning...

Welcome to Sweet-tique's blog! Glad you stopped by.

I'd like to begin by telling you how Sweet-tique began. A good friend and I sat around talking about all the things we'd like to do. Now, I am an avid crafter as is my friend so you know what direction our thinking went. After many months of research I can up with the name Sweet-tique. Sometimes I think it is from Sweet Antiques and sometimes Sweet Boutique. Either way, We Are SWEET-TIQUE!

We started working from home and doing vendor shows. I realized that my crafts were quickly overtaking my house and that doing vendor events was just not working for me. My good friend was unable to go any further at this point so...I bravely opened a shop in Bonaparte, Iowa with the support of my husband.

Sweet-tique offers many different items to purchase. I make hand-poured soy candles that are highly scented and without coloring. I am considering not making any more for lack of spare time though. I also crochet, upstyle furniture, make wreaths and whatever else I decide to dabble in. Our store offers barn quilts, Amish made rugs, wooden items, antiques, vintage, primitives and much, much, more.

I will be posting photos of items I am working on plus adding bits and pieces of info. Owning a small business can be harrowing but is so worth it. This is my Fun-time job. I also have a full-time job.

Catch us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/SweettiqueInIowa!

Hope you enjoy my blog!
